When beginning this line, my primary focus was to capture feelings in order to begin creating. I gathered words and images of very interesting people with even more interesting backgrounds, cultures, and lifestyles. The beauty of this idea is that they all tie into one, in that they have each faced some sort of adversity, while maintaining their individuality. With this individuality and sense of self comes self-love, and with self-love comes freedom. 

This mood and feeling has transformed into “Irreverent Poetry,” composed of four looks telling completely different stories and journeys of women breaking away. Unapologetically, they each shed their “skins,” as they continuously grow onto the path of life. 

“Elation Station” was created without using a source of design as inspiration. The inspiration was taken solely from life and thoughts of fantasies, which ultimately lead to many levels of happiness. These images of nature, like the images of people in Irreverent Poetry, are from different realms of life, but come together to produce one organic euphoria. Though many view euphoria as simply a form of escapism, or just a place that one can only dream of, I view it as a permanent reward for ones travels and sufferings. There are no limits or boundaries - just being. Every living person should have access to this state without feeling the need to come down from it. 

A resort wear collaboration between myself and two other designers, created and showcased for designers Jolie and Elizabeth as an additional category to their designs. Our goal was to capture all aspects of vacation and relaxation, with a more sophisticated, Southern flair.

I decided to base a look on the Petronas Towers in Malaysia. I admire the postmodern style and sleek architecture of the twin towers, which influenced a look of elongation and precision. In my eyes, these towers represent stability and confidence. The building materials such as concrete, steel, and glass go hand-in-hand with the idea of transparency and immovability, which can be very unique characteristics of a strong woman.
